Applied is Ready | Article 4
Applied Engineering worked with a local government agency to modernize their set of legacy applications. The complexity of these applications required a developer to manually update basic information.
The Challenge – develop and incorporate changes to an existing application that will allow for an employee to easily manage the program without involving a developer.
Critical Success Factors:
- Simplify a web app that tracks many relationships between families and programs
- Build an automated process to generate invoices and checks for previous payments and credits
- Reduce overhead cost by eliminating frequent developer maintenance.
Using Microsoft Access and Visual Basic, Applied updated and simplified the app that tracks families and programs. Using an improved interface and added features, the app now tracks the status of monthly billing, applies payments/credits to monthly billing statements, and automatically generates invoices.
Outcome – After Applied completed the project, the client can now manage their own apps without programmer assistance which improves turn-around time and reduces cost.
